Dr. Montoya is a Southern California native and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cal Poly Pomona. While working on a degree in Psychology, she was given opportunities to work at the Swine and Sheep unit in addition to working for the Equine Research Center of Cal Poly.  It was during this time that she discovered her love and passion for Veterinary Medicine.  She went on to earn her D.V.M. from U.C. Davis in 2005, followed by a one year internship at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists in San Leandro.  Dr. Montoya’s professional interests include emergency medicine and she finds great satisfaction in working closely with specialists and consulting/caring for cases from internal medicine, Cardiology, Surgery and Oncology.  In her free time she enjoys weight lifting and practicing Muay Thai (kickboxing).  She also enjoys spending time at the beach and has recently taken up playing beach volleyball and surfing.
